Every ITLI project begins with a real place and real people facing real circumstances.
We don’t arrive with a predetermined program and try to make a community fit it. We start by looking at what is happening around us—what people are facing, what resources already exist, what is missing, and where there might be an opportunity to create something that reaches further than a single need.
That means our projects can look very different.
What connects them is the desire to create practical, lasting pathways toward greater stability and self-sustainability.
Sometimes that means starting something completely new. Sometimes it means connecting things that already exist. Sometimes it means staying long enough to establish a project and then stepping back so local people can take it further.
Below are some of the places where that journey has taken us.
What if what we already have could help meet what we need?
Lebanon’s economic and humanitarian challenges have created enormous need, while homes, businesses, and organizations continue to have usable resources that are going unused.
The Salt & Grain Exchange creates a way for those resources to circulate within the community through a system of points rather than money.
What began as a small pilot is now being developed into a larger space bringing together an Exchange, café, gym, workshops, and community activities.
Before they leave, prepare them for what comes next.
ITLI worked with children and young adults affected by trafficking and difficult circumstances, building programs designed to prepare them for life beyond the orphanage.
Education, healthy relationship training, professional and entrepreneurial skills, English, computer training, career exposure, transition housing, mentorship, and job placement worked together to help young people move toward independent life.
Once the project was established, it was transitioned to trained local leadership.
